HEADLINE NEWS

Popcorn sales
Only a few weeks left to sell popcorn.  Final orders must be turned in to den coordinators before Monday, November 26, along with full payment.  Our goal is $300 per boy and we still have a long way to go.  What happens if we don’t make the goal?  Things just become more expensive.  Families may have to pay for pinewood derby cars; the cost of coming to the Blue & Gold banquet may go up; there may be a charge for attending family camp or other activities; and/or we may not be giving neckerchiefs and handbooks at the crossover picnic.  Once popcorn sales are final, Rich will revise the budget and let you know where we stand.

feetHuman Race 2007
The Human Race, which is run by The Volunteer Center of the Virginia Peninsula, is scheduled for November 20th, 2007 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm.  You will need to park at Woodside High School and buses will shuttle you to and from the Newport News Park.  This is not really a race – it’s a fundraiser walk through the Parade of Lights.  Participation requires a minimum $10 per person or $25 per immediate family living at the same address.  You can pay yourself or collect donations from sponsors.   A portion of the donations we collect will come back to us.

If you are interested in attending this fun event, please contact Brenda Chapman, 659-0225 and she will get the official envelope to you.   All envelopes need to be turned into Brenda by November 13th.  There is also a Waiver for Walkers on the envelope that needs to be signed before you can participate.  All checks should be made out to The Human Race.

It would be great if we could coordinate to go as a pack instead of as individual dens.  Please let Brenda know if you’re interested and which time would be best.

November Pack Meeting
Thursday, November 29
   Usual time and place
Theme this month is “Indian Nations”.  Our guest speaker will be Beth Roach, a Park Ranger from Chippokes Plantation.  She will bring many artifacts from the plantation and talk to us about the tribes that lived there before and after the settlers arrived.

We are also going to try to take a pack picture this month so please make sure that your scout is properly dressed in his full Class A uniform (except Tigers since the orange T-shirt is their official uniform).
